Summary

Holidays in Costa Adeje are very well suited for those who enjoy a relaxing holiday resort yet still have the ability to experience a much more lively atmosphere. Situated on the south-west coast of Tenerife, next door to the bustling Playa de las Americas, Costa Adeje holidays attract families and older couples who come here to enjoy the peace and quiet of the resort, along with the array of fantastic amenities on offer here. The main hangout in Costa Adeje is the Playa de Fanabe beach. Boasting black volcanic sand and a host of watersports, Playa de Fanabe beach is a small and compact haunt that can become quite busy in peak season. A pedestrian promenade lines the beach, connecting Los Cristianos, Playa de Las Americas and La Caleta to the resort and boasts a selection of shops, bars and restaurants. Holidaymakers venture here both day and night to enjoy a refreshing cocktail whilst watching the world go by.

Things to do

Costa Adeje holidays are famed for their relaxing base and child friendly amenities; however there are also some exciting opportunities for days out here. A popular day trip is the Barranco del Infiermo, also known as Hell’s gorge; this is the deepest gorge in the whole of the Canary Islands. This offers a pleasant change in scenery to the bustling resorts lining the coast. The route takes you through a deep valley and finishes in a three tier waterfall and pool. The waterfall gushes out of season, however at the height of summer it calms down a lot. Access to the valley is limited to 200 people per day so it is a good idea to arrive early. Although the walk is not particularly difficult, young children and people with mobility restrictions may prefer to give this a miss. From start to finish the walk takes about 2 to 3 hours, depending on how many stops you make along the way. There is a restaurant at the entrance to the valley which offers lunch and cold refreshments at the end of the walk. A much needed savour after a day walking under the blistering sun.
