The resort has 2 main beaches that are both quite sheltered thanks to the high cliffs behind, the main beach is a man-made with sand imported from the Sahara desert and can get extremely busy during the summer months. To avoid these crowds you can head to one of the inland swimming pools that are among the lush tropical gardens or travel 3km to the smaller quieter resort of Playa Del Cura that has a small cove to relax in. The resort has a fantastic marina which is full of luxury yachts and boats; from here you can also try out the wide selection of water sports available such as banana rides, windsurfing, jet skiing and scuba diving. Nearby is there are 3 major commercial centres, the largest is Centro Civico, all of them are packed with shops, bars and restaurants or if you’re looking for some real bargains then you can visit Arguineguin which holds the largest market in Gran Canaria.
