Situated off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, Cozumel is Mexico's largest Island and has only recently became popular with British holidaymakers; therefore is virtually untouched. The clear waters around Cozumel shield part of the second largest coral reef barrier in the world, where you can see underwater plains, walls that suddenly drop hundreds of feet, limestone caverns, tunnels, and the rare black coral. The Cozumel Reef National Park has been a protected area since 1996. Its colourful marine life attracts divers from all over the world. Practicing other sports is possible, whether they are in the water or on land: fishing, windsurfing, sailing, horseback riding, tennis, or golf. Cozumel's east coast has long, virgin, white-sand beaches and a strong surf where, when swimming is not recommended, the views are dramatic. San Gervasio is an archaeological site in the centre of the island where a temple is dedicated to Ixchel. There are frequent tours departing from downtown.

Direct flights to Cozumel are available throughout the year from London Gatwick in the UK. the Flights fly into Cancun airport and once you land you will be required to take a boat transfer over to the island. The flight time from the UK is approximately 10 hours 30 minutes. Hotels in Cozumel are all to a very high standard and depending on your budget will determine where you stay.
